  • Congratulations to the C.E. King Mighty Panther Band on a great first performance! The Marching Band performed at Planet Ford Stadium against Westfield HS. Thank you to all students, friends, family members, and staff members who helped to make our first Football Game a great experience. Percussion Camp Opportunity

Monarch Independent Percussion Experience Camp


On September 21, the C.E. King High School Band, in partnership with Monarch Independent Percussion, will be hosting an Experience Camp for any KHS percussionists who wish to grow as a musician and performer.


Since its founding in 2014, Monarch Independent has quickly become a perennial finalist at the Winter Guard International Percussion Championships in Dayton, Ohio. As Houston's only World Class Percussion Ensemble, Monarch attracts members locally from the major cities of Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas, as well as from Oklahoma and Louisiana.


An audition based ensemble, Monarch has high expectations of all performing members that earn a contract with them. Our very own C.E. King HS alumnus, David Salas (Class of '24), was a performing member in the 2025 Ensemble. All current C.E. King HS Percussionists will receive free entry into the Experience Camp, and the opportunity to work one-on-one with instructors and staff.


The Sunday Experience Camp will be held at C.E. King HS in the Band Hall and Fine Arts Wing from 9:00AM-3:00PM. Students who attend will be taught by some of the best percussion teachers in the State and Country.


Please email Mr. Cruz at alejandrocruz@sheldonisd.com if you are able/wanting to attend. We recommend all percussionists take this opportunity to be taught for free, by some of Houston's best Percussion Instructors.

  • August 25th: Community Performance

    • Our Rescheduled Community Performance will be at 7:00PM in Panther Stadium

      • Doors Open @ 6:30PM

      • Brass/Woodwind/Percussion Students will need their Blue Jerseys and Regular Athletic Shorts (Not Khakis)

      • Colorguard Students will need their Grey Guard Shirt and Regular Athletic Shorts

  • August 28th: SFA Lumberjack MB Performance

    • Students will be excused from 8th Period on this day

    • 9th Grade Center students will ride the 8th Period Bus that day
