Our Ensembles
The Mighty Panther Marching Band
The C.E. King High School Marching Band is the C.E. King Band's outdoor performing ensemble. The 250+ member band is typically led by
4 Drum Majors, 6 Section Captains, and roughly 30 other student leaders. This band has consistently received a UIL 1st Division Rating since 2016.
Marching Band is an integral part of the band program. The KHS Band philosophy is that educationally, historically, and musically, marching band is an essential ingredient in a well-rounded music education in band. We believe that music students need to develop the ability to participate and perform in different ensemble experiences which, for band students, includes the marching band.
Wind Ensemble - Varsity Band
The Wind Ensemble is the advanced (varsity) band in the C.E. King High School Band Program. Students will prepare/perform an advanced music curriculum and have a strong commitment to rehearsal and individual practice time. Wind Ensemble students students will prepare and perform music for concerts and competitions. The Wind Ensemble meets during 8th Period.
Membership in the Wind Ensemble carries the following responsibilities:
1. Attendance at all rehearsal, sectionals, clinics and performances.
2. Preparation of All-State/All-Region Band music during Fall Semester.
3. Audition for All-State/All-Region Band in December.
4. Participate in SISD Solo and Ensemble Contest
5. Performance of prepared music to strengthen the proficiency of the student.
6. Performance of concert music assigned by the directors.
7. Maintain academic eligibility.
8. Abide by all C.E. King Band Handbook Policies.
Wind Symphony - Non-Varsity Band
The Wind Symphony (second band) is open to all C.E. King High School Band students. Membership is determined by audition. Students will prepare and perform music for concerts and competitions. The Wind Symphony meets during 5th Period.
Membership in the Wind Symphony carries the following responsibilities:
1. Attendance at all rehearsal, sectionals, clinics and performances.
2. Preparation of All-State/All-Region Band music during Fall Semester.
3. Participate in Mock All-Region Auditions
4. Participate in SISD Solo and Ensemble Contest
5. Performance of prepared music to strengthen the proficiency of the student.
6. Performance of concert music assigned by the directors.
7. Maintain academic eligibility.
8. Abide by all C.E. King Band Handbook Policies.
Symphonic Band - Sub Non-Varsity A Band
The Symphonic Band are open to all C.E. King Band students. Membership is determined by audition. Symphonic Band students will prepare and perform music for concerts and competitions. The Symphonic Band meets during 2nd Period.
Membership in the Symphonic Band carries the following responsibilities:
1. Attendance at all rehearsal, sectionals, clinics and performances.
2. Preparation of All-State/All-Region Band music during Fall Semester.
3. Audition for All-State/All-Region Band in December.
4. Participate in SISD Solo and Ensemble Contest
5. Performance of prepared music to strengthen the proficiency of the student.
6. Performance of concert music assigned by the directors.
7. Maintain academic eligibility.

Concert Band - Sub Non-Varsity B Band
The Symphonic Band are open to all C.E. King Band students. Membership is determined by audition. Symphonic Band may or may not compete as an ensemble depending on instrumentation, eligibility, and music preparation. Symphonic Band students will prepare and perform music for concerts and competitions. The Symphonic Band meets during 3rd Period.
Membership in the Symphonic Band carries the following responsibilities:
1. Attendance at all rehearsal, sectionals, clinics and performances.
2. Participate in SISD Solo and Ensemble Contest in a solo capacity.
3. Performance of prepared music to strengthen the proficiency of the student.
4. Performance of concert music assigned by the directors.
5. Maintain academic eligibility.
6. Abide by all C.E. King Band Handbook Policies.
