KHS Colorguard

Program Overview

The C.E. King High School Color Guard Program is an award winning program that offers students the opportunity to perform, learn basic and intermediate dance skills, learn beginner to advanced equipment skills, and grow as a leader and human being.

The Color Guard Program offers a Two-Semester Curriculum with Outdoor Fall Colorguard in the 1st Semester, and Indoor Winter Guard in the 2nd semester.

The Color Guard Program is open to any KHS Student who wishes to join at any point throughout the school year. Simply reach out to Mr. Rene Robles at renerobles@sheldonisd.com. All Color Guard students must remember that joining Color Guard means they are also joining the KHS Band Program. While the Color Guard Program operates independently, it is still a part of the KHS Band Program. All expectations and responsibilities that a normal band student has will also be expected of all Color Guard members.

Mighty Panther Band Color Guard

The Mighty Panther Band Color Guard is the Colorguard section of our high school marching band. Membership is open to any current or incoming high school student. Dance experience is not required but any background in cheer, dance, drill team, gymnastics, tumbling, or stunts in general will be very helpful.

All new students will be taught the fundamentals for success in the marching band

All returning students will review all fundamentals and continue their education

Membership in the Might Panther Band Color Guard carries the following responsibilities:

1. Attendance at all rehearsal, sectionals, clinics and performances.

2. Maintain academic eligibility.

3. Abide by all C.E. King Band Handbook Policies.

Varsity Winter Guard

The Varsity Winter Guard is the advanced Winter Guard in the C.E. King High School Band Program. Students will prepare/perform an advanced level Dance and Equipment Curriculum and have a strong commitment to rehearsal and individual practice time. Varsity WG students students will prepare and perform work for showcases and competitions. Membership in the Fall Color Guard is a prerequisite to joining this team.

Membership in the Varsity Winter Guard carries the following responsibilities:

1. Attendance at all rehearsal, sectionals, clinics and performances.

2. Maintain academic eligibility.

3. Abide by all C.E. King Band Handbook Policies.

JV Blue Winter Guard

The Junior Varsity Blue Winter Guard is the intermediate Winter Guard in the C.E. King High School Band Program. Students will prepare/perform an intermediate level Dance and Equipment Curriculum and have a strong commitment to rehearsal and individual practice time. JV Blue WG students students will prepare and perform work for showcases and competitions. Membership in the Fall Color Guard is a prerequisite to joining this team.

Membership in the Junior Varsity - Blue Winter Guard carries the following responsibilities:

1. Attendance at all rehearsal, sectionals, clinics and performances.

2. Maintain academic eligibility.

3. Abide by all C.E. King Band Handbook Policies.

JV Red Winter Guard

The Junior Varsity Red Winter Guard is the beginner Winter Guard in the C.E. King High School Band Program. Students will prepare/perform a beginner level Dance and Equipment Curriculum and have a strong commitment to rehearsal and individual practice time. JV Red WG students students will prepare and perform work for showcases and competitions. Fall Color Guard Students may be placed in JV Red in order to strengthen fundamentals, and to train as leaders in order to help new students into the guard program.

Any C.E. King HS Student is welcome to audition for the JV Red Winter Guard team. Any C.E. King HS Band student is also allowed to audition but must understand that it cannot conflict with their responsibilites as a wind player.

Membership in the Junior Varsity - Red Winter Guard carries the following responsibilities:
