Weekly Recap


The KHS marching band had a great rehearsal week! There was no football game so the students were able to focus and learn the final movement of their show. Great work on a productive week. Let's approach all our upcoming rehearsals with focus and care as we prepare for our first competition!


Announcements

  • Reminder that this week is our Homecoming Game!

  • 5th Period: 2 Octave F Chromatic Scale Playing Test will be on the week of October 6-10

    • We will pull students individually to play their test

    • Double Reed Players: You will play this on your oboe or bassoon

    • This is 5th Period's 9 Week Q1 Exam

    • Band Hall Cleanup: LOW REEDS/FLUTES

  • KHS Fall Choir Concert

    • 6:30PM Start

    • Choir Students will attend a portion of Monday's rehearsal first before attending their choir concert

  • BOOSTER MEETING

    • 7:00PM Start Time

    • Location: Black Box (PAC is unavailable due to Choir Concert)


September 23rd || TUESDAY (ADAM SANDLER DAY)

  • Virtual KNIT Meeting

    • Students will join the meeting after rehearsal


September 24th || WEDNESDAY (DRESS YOUR AGE DAY)

September 25th || THURSDAY (THROWBACK THURSDAY)

Blue Day (2, 4, 5, 6, 8)

  • State of the District Luncheon

    • Invited Brass Ensembles (8th Period Students)

    • 9:00AM - 12:30PM

  • Full Band Rehearsal 

    • Location: Grid

    • 3:30PM - 6:30PM

    • Front Ensemble Moving after REHEARSAL: CLARINETS/LOW REEDS

    • Prop Moving: TRUMPETS/MELLOS

    • Band Hall Cleanup: ALTOS/TROMBONES/EUPHONIUMS

  • KHS Senior Parent Meeting

    • 6:30PM - 7:30PM

      • Location: PAC

      • All Seniors will attend rehearsal and then head to the meeting after the run-through

      • STUDENT PICK UP

        • THE PARKING LOT WILL BE EXTREMELY CROWDED THIS EVENING

        • PLEASE BE PATIENT AS YOU PICK YOUR STUDENT UP

        • DO NOT BLOCK ANY ROAD BY PARKING


September 26th || FRIDAY (KING SPIRIT DAY - WEAR BLUE)

White Day (1, 3, 5, 7, 8)

  • 8th Period Homecoming Pep Rally 

    • Location: Competition Gym

      • Students will report to the Band Hall right at the beginning of 8th Period

      • Students must ALREADY be dressed with their jerseys when they arrive

      • 9th Grade Center Students will ride the 8th Period Bus and arrive late to the Pep Rally

      • You need Water Jugs, Rehearsal Shorts, Blue Jersey, Instruments, Flip Folders, and Dot Books/Coordinate Sheets for Rehearsal

      • We will go directly to the Stadium after the Pep Rally

  • KHS v. Atascocita Home Game

  • Homecoming Game

  • MS Night


September 27th || SATURDAY

US BANDS HOUSTON REGIONAL

  • FIRST MARCHING COMPETITION

  • PRELIMS PERFORMANCE TIME: 3:45PM

  • FINALS PERFORMANCE TIME: TBD (7:00PM or LATER)

HOMECOMING DANCE

  • Unfortunately due to scheduling, no students will be allowed to attend the Homecoming Dance due to the marching band competition

    • Front Ensemble Moving after REHEARSAL: ALTOS/LOW REEDS

    • Prop Moving: CLARINETS/TRUMPETS

    • Band Hall Cleanup: MELLOS/LOW BRASS

  • ECHS 9th and 10th Grade Parent Night

    • Location: PAC

    • Students will attend this parent night after their rehearsal

  • Greater Houston Collegiate Showcase - Fine Arts Night

    • 7:00PM Start Time

    • Location: Panther Zone

    • Any student who is interested in a Fine Arts Education after college should attend!

    • Any student who wants to continue music in college even if it's not their career should attend!

      • Some colleges offer students scholarships to play in their concert or marching bands

    • Over 40 different colleges and universities will be attending with recruiters


September 30th || TUESDAY

Blue Day (2, 4, 5, 6, 8)

  • Percussion Sectionals

    • Location: TBD

    • 4:00PM - 6:00PM

    • Front Ensemble Moving after REHEARSAL: BATTERY

    • Band Hall Cleanup: PERCUSSION

  • Guard Sectionals

    • Location: TBD

    • 3:30PM - 5:30PM

    • Prop Moving: GUARD IF NEEDED


October 1st || WEDNESDAY

White Day (1, 3, 5, 7, 8)

  • Woodwind and Brass Sectionals

    • Location: Grid

    • 4:00PM - 6:00PM

    • Prop Moving: FLUTES/CLARINETS

    • Band Hall Cleanup: ALTOS/MELLOS

  • NHS Induction Ceremony

    • 6:00PM Start Time

    • Location: PAC

    • Only students who will be inducted may leave rehearsal early at 5:30PM


October 2nd || THURSDAY

Blue Day (2, 4, 5, 6, 8)

  • Full Band Rehearsal 

    • Location: Grid

    • 3:30PM - 6:30PM

    • Front Ensemble Moving after REHEARSAL: TRUMPETS

  • College Fair

    • 8:00PM End Time

    • Location: Cafeteria

    • All students will attend rehearsal. Students may attend the college fair after rehearsal is completed.


October 3rd || FRIDAY

  • KHS v. Goose Creek Memorial Away Game

  • Senior Assembly @ 9:20AM


October 4th || SATURDAY

US BANDS BAYTOWN REGIONAL

  • SECOND MARCHING COMPETITION

  • PRELIMS PERFORMANCE TIME: 3:00PM

  • FINALS PERFORMANCE TIME: TBD (7:00PM or LATER)

  • SAT TEST

    • NO STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE SAT ON THIS DAY
